New York Presidential Forecast safe dem

Last Updated: Thursday, July 18 at 10:39 AM EDT

Our model currently predicts that Joe Biden has a 98% chance of winning New York.

New York, a densely populated northeastern state awarding 28 electoral votes, is the most urbanized state in the nation and has consistently voted Democratic since 1988, with margins of at least 15% since 1992. Joe Biden won the Empire State by 23% in 2020, drawing significant support from Black and Hispanic voters, particularly in New York City. His victory was also bolstered by strong backing from college-educated, suburban, Hispanic, Asian, and Multiracial voters, especially in areas like Westchester and Nassau counties. Although the Republican Party performed notably better in New York during the 2022 midterms, leading to what was termed a 'localized red wave,' New York is expected to remain a solidly blue state in the 2024 presidential election.
